*Originally posted, 11th Feb 2014, but I felt it right to reblog it today. It’s Valentine’s day, and I’m sat here basking in the love of God!
It snowed today. Yaaaay!!!
Anyone who knows me, knows I love snow. Love. LOVE.
What does this have to do with God loving us? Well, my relationship with God is as follows: He totally romances me, like He adores me and makes it clear that He does. Simple things please me, and He always creates simple situations to please me and cheer me up when I’m not 100%.
I remember one time I was having a really stressful day at work at I had to go to the toilet to pray for strength (can I get an amen if you’ve been there lol?). By the time I came downstairs, there was a Spanish patient who had recently moved into the area who brought a prescription in to the pharmacy and she couldn’t speak English, but she was on dangerous medicines which I had to explain to her how to use correctly. I got to speak to her in Spanish, help her, and she was so grateful that she was in tears. Needless to say, it cheered me right up. Why? Because I love Spanish and love helping people. That was God answering my prayer and letting me know He heard me and He loves me so much that He’d love on me the way He knows I’d most appreciate the love.
So it snowed today. My days have been a bit pants of recent, and The Lord knows I love snow. I was checking prescriptions at work whilst telling my colleague I couldn’t wait for it to snow because I love snow. She laughed at me and called me crazy. I looked up, and it was snowing outside!!! I immediately turned into a little girl and squealed with joy, and then I felt the warmth of God’s love over me.
God loves us is so many ways, but we don’t usually see the little ways. I’ve made it my mission to see them and I’d encourage you all to do the same.
One thing that a lot of Christians struggle with is the practical, and everyday elements of Christ’s love for us. We know He loves us (for God so loved the world that He…(John 3:16)) but to see that played out daily, is foreign. We only see His love manifested in the new job, passing exams you didn’t really study for, and buying a new car etc.
1 Kings 19:11-13 (ESV)
And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. 13 And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
I love this passage of scripture so much and it so perfectly illustrates my point. Elijah was looking for the voice of God only in the big things, but He actually manifested in a small still voice. God doesn’t only show His love for us in the big ways and examples I mentioned above, but also by making it snow when I needed cheering up. He makes my favorite songs come up on my iPhone when I put it on shuffle. He had a friend walk by my car one day when I was crying and driving, and that friend knocked on my window just to tell me he (He) loves me.
He is always demonstrating His love for us.
It snowed today!!!
Oh, how He loves me!!!
I love this so much, especially, the bit about only noticing God’s love in the big stuff not realising his love in the small stuff that he does everyday.
Thank you Fatmohn for putting things into perspective and just proving that we are constantly surrounded by love.
Amen re praying in the toilet. Lol
Yay re snow. I love it too
