So for the past few weeks, God has been teaching me about a heart of unhindered service and He has begun to show me scriptures in such a new light that it is exhilarating.
Two scriptures He’s really been speaking to me about are
1 Corinthians 15:18 – Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain
and
Matthew 5:12 – Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you
Let’s focus on Matthew 5:12; many Christians quote this scripture when speaking Christianese to our fellow saints and we have no clue to the depths of what we’re saying.
This scripture means that for every act of service you do for the Lord on earth, or for every injustice you receive on earth, your reward for the service or the justice for your injustice is in heaven. DON’T CLAIM IT UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO RECEIVE IT!!!
It is in the scriptures, so it is going to happen anyway, but you are continuing to speak it reinforcing a biblical principle into your environment. If you speak this verse over your life, don’t complain when people don’t serve you back, or people don’t treat you the same way because you are asking God to let your reward be in heaven, which it will be.
On the other hand, this is such an amazing and comforting scripture for those who serve unhindered, because it means that God sees, cares, takes note, and our reward will be in heaven, eternally. This life is fleeting. Any reward we receive on earth is temporary and limited, but we have the promise of an eternal reward in heaven, seated at the feet of our gracious and loving Father. Wow. Awesome!
Go back to reading the scriptures for what they really are; if you quote scripture, there WILL be a performance of that word, so don’t be upset when God does what He said He would do and fulfils His word
Love you all!
